Step One: Swapping into Natural Materials

You may have noticed that I am only sharing natural materials clothing items.

Why? Well I have been going down a non-toxic road for a couple years now and the changes have now reached my closet.

About two years ago I listened to a podcast episode that featured a lawyer who was fighting big beauty brands over talc being in makeup products. I opened up my makeup bag and found talc in over half of my products. I couldn’t believe it. My favorite blush, highlighter, bronzer palette… talc was the first ingredient. Ingesting that every time I put on makeup was putting myself and my health into a susceptible position.

I had already made the step of swapping out my cleaning supplies to healthier solutions. Why would I do that while continuing to use these harmful products on my face?! It wasn’t adding up to me.

I threw out all of those makeup products that night.

Once I started down that rabbit hole I found myself asking “If I am already making all of these changes why am I still doing ______?” That blank turned into buying clothes made of toxic materials quickly.

This began with underwear. Throwing out all the items that touch the most vulnerable parts of our body all day, everyday.

That is where we are going to start this series: Swapping Into Natural Materials

The health and wellness swapping space can be very oversaturated and overwhelming to start getting into. With this series, I want to break down the simplest way to make this change.

While my overall attitude to these swaps is “slowly integrate”, the underwear is the only one where I will say, this is urgent. If you only want to make one change in your closet, let this be the one and do it quickly.

100% Organic Cotton- your #1 material for undergarment swaps.

Quince has my favorite unlined bras in several colors. Pact has the best underwear that will not stand out underneath your leggings. On my radar to try next, CouCou Intimates underwire bras.
